DS Team Awarded Innovation Grant for New AI Program
ODY Library’s DS team, in collaboration with faculty from philosophy, government, the WORD Studio, and more, has been awarded an innovation grant to establish an AI, Ethics, and Policy Program at St. Lawrence University.
The group has been working this summer to develop the program’s form, structure, and learning goals. One major component of the initiative is planning for an AI Institute that will invite faculty from across campus to share their experiences and learn more about pedagogical strategies for working with AI in the classroom and in their own research.
Nicole Roche, Digital Scholarship Specialist, said the DS team was excited about expanding its AI-focused resources and programming with the help of this working group. “At first everyone was feeling that initial shockwave with AI technologies,” she said. “But now we’re seeing that AI really is here to stay. We look forward to working more with students and faculty as they explore these technologies. We also want to be a resource as they consider the ethical considerations and societal impacts that come with that engagement.”
