Podcasting Studio Surpasses 1,000 Reservations
ODY’s Podcasting Studio logged its 1,000th reservation this 2026 Spring semester. Eric Williams-Bergen, Director of Research and Digital Scholarship, noted that many student and faculty podcasts feature multiple hosts and participants. This means the total users, while impossible to calculate, is easily well into the thousands.
The studio first opened in Spring 2021 and has been transformed many times in the five years since. In 2023, the Digital Scholarship team used funding from a major grant awarded by the Gladys Brooks Foundation to renovate and sound-treat the space, most notably making it more capable for video podcasting, a medium that has grown steadily in popularity in recent years.
Students and faculty from classes from across the curriculum have been trained to use this space, from History to Global Studies to Finance to Philosophy and many more.
“It’s exciting because we see students learn how to use the podcasting studio for one class, and then so many of them end up coming back for other classes and projects later on in their academic career,” said Nicole Roche, Digital Scholarship Specialist.
