Video Creation Workshop – POLS-371

Digital Scholarship / April 2, 2025 / POLS-371

Davinci Resolve

For this project we’re encouraging you to use the editing software Davinci Resolve. You can access this software in ODY and/or download the free version to your own computer.

File Management

We have created folders in the Scratch Drive where you and your group members can save, store, and access the media files you’ll use during the video creation process. We recommend using this location to save your Davinci Resolve project files.

Connecting to the Scratch Drive

  1. Click on the Finder icon in your dock.
  1. In the menu bar at the top, click Go.
  1. Click Connect to Server.
  1. In the Server Address text box, enter:   smb://scratch.stlawu.local
  1. Click Connect.
  1. If prompted, enter your SLU username and password.
  1. Navigate to    digital > POLS-371   and locate your team folder.

Saving & Exporting Your Project

Ready to transfer your Davinci Resolve project so you can access it on another computer?

First, go to File > Save Project in the top menu and save your most recent changes.

Next, select File > Export Project.

Select your save location (e.g., your group folder in the Scratch drive), and press Save.

Downloading Project & Relinking Media

To access your Davinci Resolve project on another computer, first connect to the Scratch Drive using the directions on the previous page. Navigate to your team folder (digital > POLS-371 > Your group)

Open Davinci Resolve. The project manager window will open. Import your project by clicking Import Project and navigating to your project file in the Scratch drive.

You will now need to relink your media. Click on the red link icon on the Media or Edit pages. Click Locate and navigate to your group folder in the Scratch Drive. Click Open. Your media files should now relink.
