Bio

Łukasz W. Niparko ’13, from Poznań (Poland), graduated from SLU with a major in Global Studies and minors in Asian Studies and European Studies. He has been involved with the Weave since 2009, and since 2012 he has authored a blog called “Solidarity Avenue.” Łukasz is a human rights activist and currently a master of laws student at the European University Viadrina in Germany with a specialization in international human rights law. He is also an alumnus of the United World College of the American West in New Mexico. His interests concern legal prevention of discrimination, social and cultural anthropology, migration studies, and media studies. In the past few years, he has conducted academic research on topics including the socio-economic development model of Kerala (India), Poland’s post-1989 transformation, and minority rights in China. Łukasz loves to study Chinese language and to explore Chinese culture. He also had a chance to lead a summer peace studies course in Zhejiang Province in China and to teach English to migrant children in Shanghai. In 2015, he directed a summer school on tolerance and anti-discrimination in his hometown of Poznań. He is cooperating with the Warsaw Association for Legal Intervention and was a member of the migration clinic at the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights. During his free time, Łukasz enjoys biking and flâneur around Poznań as well as various community service activities. In the future, he hopes to contribute to strengthening world-wide adherence to human rights.
